Golf is one of the most fun and relaxing games that we could possibly play. Regardless if you’re just driving balls alone or playing with a group of friends, there are a lot of things that are fun about the sport. This is why thousands of people flock to the links every year, and there seems to be more people becoming infatuated with the game day after day. With this being the case, there is definite need for the equipment to be produced, and every year, we seem to be surprised with what the manufacturers have to offer. While having some pretty good clubs are nice, a lot of people feel as if they should have a good golf cart. Transportation on a golf course is very important, as the links are pretty expansive, giving need for a person to have something sufficient that they could get around in. Golf carts are a big industry, and there are simply a lot of options for a person to choose from if they want to get the best out of their money.

If you’re looking for good Arizona golf carts, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to find them with the help of a good resource. We’ve been known to point people in the right direction if they’re on the hunt. We offer some pretty good deals on new and used golf carts, those that have been thoroughly tested and approved by people who are in the industry. We also have had the distinct honor of working with many different golf carts, from gas to electric, and from those that are on the links to those that are street legal. We understand that a person may need a golf cart for any number of uses, and we consider everything when we are bringing our options to the consumer. As avid golf cart users ourselves, we don’t believe that anyone should have to deal with one that won’t hold up to even the most discerning client’s expectations.

Choosing the Right Golf Driver for You

With so many golf drivers available in the market today are you are left clueless short listing the right kind of golf driver for you? Right now it turns out that you need not necessarily go hunting around in discount golf equipment shops to get good value, since even the branded drivers are currently available for very reasonable rates. So when you have the option to choose between many top notch golf drivers, how do you make up your mind which one is the right driver for you? The answer to know the different aspects of a golf driver and how the variations would suit your personal style as well as meeting the demands of a having great performance in the actual game.

Experts have a lot of experience and thus have come up with certain dos and don’ts when it comes to buying the right kind of golf driver. You have plenty of informational resources on the internet that provide you with exclusive golf driver reviews. Such testimonials on golf drivers might be of some help to help you purchase the right one. Golf drivers review is essential so that you have an idea built in your minds ahead of deciding which model to purchase for your personal use.

If you could sum up in a single sentence on the factors influencing your purchase of the perfect golf driver to suit your needs then it would comprise of size of the driver, material of the driver, loft of the driver, shaft flex, length of the shaft and grip size. Considering carefully all of these factors put together would lead you into knowing that your confidence in the game is boosted just by the look and feel of it. The last thing you want is to find out that you have spent good money on an ill-fitting golf driver while you are in the middle of a game!

Gone are the days where the golf driver could cover only 250 yards. With modern technologies in place many golf courses are being revamped in the last decade due to the added length of the tees these days. You must take into consideration size and try and opt for the biggest of them all. Because the larger the club, the larger the sweet spot, increasing the chances of hitting the ball at a greater length. The longer your first shot, the shorter your second, thus larger golf drivers facilitate a lower score. You could opt for the trendy titanium heads that are lighter in weight thus giving you higher club head speed. It is also long lasting and highly durable.

The next criterion is the loft of the club. It should essentially be within 7.5 degrees to 13 degrees. The angle decides on how well you get the ball high into the air. If you are an amateur go for a lower value, if not go for the higher angle. As far as the shaft length factor, the longer the shaft the more is the speed. So you could opt for lengths between 43-46 inches. As far as the material of the shaft is concerned you have a plethora of steel, graphite and other materials available. For the modern times, graphite should suit your putting needs. Lastly you need to finalize on the grip size, which should essentially be smaller because larger grips reduces the swing of the club.

Now that you have a good foundation to make the right decision when you buy yourself a new golf driver, go ahead and have a ball shopping for it!

Maybe you have known about the 10 best golf cities in America which voted online. This year, we asked you to weigh in. After more than 1,000 votes, we have our new list.Maybe you are more care about the golf clubs for sale, buy the cheap golf equipment.I am sure the 10 cities will be attractive to you too.

No. 10
Charlotte, N.C.

Better known for its NASCAR tracks than for its trophy courses, Charlotte nevertheless serves up an appealing — and affordable — blend of public courses such as Birkdale, Renaissance Park, Charlotte Golf Links and Ballantyne Resort. The city also features private gems such as the Donald Ross-designed Charlotte Country Club and Quail Hollow, site of the PGA Tour’s Wachovia Championship.

• North Carolina’s impressive array of big-time courses

No. 9
Jacksonville, Fla.

Head to this area for one reason: to conquer No. 17′s island green at TPC Sawgrass.

• 3 Budgets: Jacksonville
• Dye’s Sawgrass shines anew
• Jim Furyk on Jacksonville

No. 8
Atlanta

Atlanta is No. 8 on both lists, and for good reason. You’ve got the Bobby Jones trifecta: East Lake, Peachtree and Atlanta Athletic Club. East Lake is one of the area’s two PGA Tour sites, along with TPC Sugarloaf.

• Best places to golf in Atlanta
• Sea Island Resort in Georgia
• Reynolds Plantation is TaylorMade for what ails your game

No. 7
Tampa and St. Petersburg, Fla.

There are plenty of reasons to visit, including Pine Barrens, TPC Tampa and Fox Hollow Golf Club.

• Five family friendly Fla. resorts
• Tampa: Where to find affordable, quality golf
• Golf and spring training in one trip

No. 6
Austin, Texas

The No. 1 metro area on our list was only No. 6 in reader voting despite a climate that makes it possible to play almost all year.

• Perfect Day of Golf in Austin

No. 5
Chicago

The wind and snow weren’t enough to deter readers from choosing Chicago. With great courses like Cog Hill Golf Club, we’re not surprised.

• Luke Donald’s Home: Chicago
• Chicago’s best golf courses

No. 4
Orlando

Everyone agrees that Orlando is a great golf city. Don’t miss Bay Hill, Grand Cypress and Greg Norman’s Champions Gate.

• Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club and Lodge
• Reunion Resort & Club and Champions Gate in Orlando

No. 3
Las Vegas

Readers valued Sin City’s accessibility to quality public courses and availability of total public courses as much as we did, despite the sometimes high price tag.

• Wynn builds another superstar Las Vegas course
• Course Spy: Paiute Golf Resort, Las Vegas
• Top 5 Values in Las Vegas

No. 2
San Diego

Our favorite spot in California was San Jose, but readers chose the more southern San Diego area, home of this year’s U. S. Open venue, Torrey Pines.

• Course Spy: Torrey Pines (South Course)
• Four Seasons Aviara, Carlsbad

No. 1

Phoenix

Golf is all about numbers, and these figures are inviting: more than 200 courses and 330 days of sunshine each year. Small wonder that golfers target the Phoenix-Scottsdale-Mesa area like a barrage of heat-seeking missiles.

• 3 Budgets: Phoenix
• Course Spy: Scottsdale’s Grayhawk Golf Club

Chronicler of Golf Is a ‘Legend’

There have been so many thrills and accomplishments in Bob Thomas’ 25-year career with the Southern California Golf Association, it would take hours to reminisce about them after his retirement this month.

The regrets? Few, although he certainly would have liked to pare his handicap. Working for the organization that tallies every golfer’s handicap in Southern California, Thomas can’t fudge when you ask him about it, and his index number right now: a hearty 24.3.
“One of my retirement goals is to get a little bit better, which would imply actually playing and practicing,” Thomas joked.

It’s a truism in the golf industry. The higher you rise in the business, the less time you have to play, and seldom has a golf index number been more irrelevant when measuring a person’s contributions to the game.

For the past quarter century, Thomas, 63, has been an instrumental part of the SCGA as its director of communications and publisher and editor of FORE Magazine. As the longest standing employee, he has been a roll-up-your-sleeves participant in the enormous changes that have come to the game and the SCGA.

The 110-year-old SCGA had 90,000 golfers as members when Thomas came over from a corporate communications job in September 1983; it has 150,000 today. There were 425 member clubs; now there are 1,100. There were nine championship events; now there are 24. Thomas grew FORE Magazine from a quarterly to six times a year, and he inaugurated the valuable SCGA Directory in 1992.

He has taken thousands of photographs and written millions of words about amateur golfers who played for the love of the game, not for money. The best part is that he shared his golf equipment importance.

“The word ‘legend’ is a big word, but to the Southern California golf community, and to amateur golfers, that’s really what he’s become,” said Katie Denbo, a protege of Thomas who succeeds him as the editor and publisher of FORE.

Frank Moore, 42, has arrived from media relations at Northrop Grumman to be the SCGA’s new director of communications and marketing.

“Hands down, I think he’s one of the most talented communicators in the industry,” Denbo said of Thomas. “He just has that knowledge of how to interact with players, golf courses, the media, advertisers, all of these different levels. Everybody really respects him.”

Said Thomas: “I care passionately about the game, passionately about the SCGA. We do great work here. The people I work with and work for, the members are uppermost in their mind.

“With the magazines, the directory and Internet site, we spent a lot of hours trying to do the best we could to bring knowledge to people. We wanted people to understand that there was more to golf than hitting a ball around a course. There is so much more to the game.”

Kevin Heaney, the current executive director of the SCGA and the fourth under whom Thomas served, chuckled when he thought of the hours and energy expended by Thomas, who’d send e-mails at 4 in the morning and make phone calls late into the night.

“High energy,” said Heaney, who worked with Thomas for 24 years. “The guy burned through a lot of Diet Coke. It kept him going.”
Some of Heaney’s favorite memories about Thomas’ dedication are from watching him work the State Amateur when it was held at Pebble Beach. The weather sometimes turned nasty in June.

“And Bob’s out there running around with his camera. It was like a bad scene from ‘Caddyshack,’ ” Heaney said. “Bob’s going crazy, trying to stand still in the wind to get a shot. It was classic Bob.”

Through the years, FORE Magazine has been dedicated to covering the top-level amateur events in the state, and Thomas attended nearly all of them in his 25 years. It was easy when there wasn’t an Internet and people dutifully waited for the magazine to come out. In recent years, fans and families of players have wanted instantaneous results, and the SCGA was one of the first organizations in the United States to offer live scoring. He has wide experience on golf clubs

Thomas remembers first going live at the 1996 U.S. Amateur at Pumpkin Ridge, won by Tiger Woods. There were more than 50 Californians in the field, and Thomas went to elaborate lengths to update each player’s card, hole by hole, on the Web.

“Two of the longest days of my life,” Thomas said.

Of course, this was the same guy who years ago brought, every day from home, the first computer into the SCGA’s Studio City offices.

“It was supposed to be portable,” Thomas said, “but it weighed 25 pounds.”

Thomas has seen an amazing array of talented players and quirky characters compete in SCGA events. Some of his favorites: Craig Steinberg, Scott McGihon, Pat Duncan, Mark Johnson, Ed Cuff, Jason Gore, Kemp Richardson and Todd Demsey.

There also was the guy who drank beer during events and teed his ball up on a beer can.
“Hard to believe, but I watched him do it,” Thomas said.
Not surprisingly, Woods stands out, too.

In 1994, Woods was a national star, and he jointly entered for the only time the SCGA Amateur and State Amateur. “Tiger was well beyond us at that point, but he took the time to play,” Thomas said. “I never asked him, but I think it was his way of saying thanks for us being there when he was a kid. That is the most special memory for me.”

Woods fired a 62 in one round of the SCGA Amateur at Hacienda Country Club and won handily. In the State Am, he reached the semifinals, but was upset by Cuff, the San Diegan who went on to win.

Thomas has seen the ups and the downs of the golf industry. He believes it takes too long to play a round, that courses have been made too long, too difficult and unwalkable. The prevalence of golf carts is a blessing and a curse, he said.

His gravest concern? “Water will be the biggest single issue over the next 20 years,” Thomas said.

Thomas will keep his hand in some golf marketing, and he’ll now have more time to enjoy his other interests – classical music, church activities and public transportation.

Maybe he’ll get more time to enjoy himself on the golf course, made freer with no camera over his shoulder. He can pick some sunny days to play.

“Golfers are unique,” Thomas said. “The overwhelming majority of them are solid, wonderful people. That’s been the greatest thing working for the SCGA, the people I’ve met.”

Golf Trolleys

If a golfer wants their golf bag to be capable of holding everything that they are ever likely to need during a round, such as, waterproof gear, water bottles, towels, sweater, umbrella, mobile phone etc, as well as, of course, golf balls, golf clubs and tees, then a cart bag is an essential item and unless the golfer is a bit of a pack pony, they will require a golf trolley, too.

If you are a golfer that loves being in control, then you will love the RoboKaddy from PowaKaddy, which is operated by a pocket sized remote control to gives ultra quiet obedience at the touch of a button (wouldn’t this item be a boon in a few other areas of life?). PowaKaddy are world renowned for their electric golf trolleys and the RoboKaddy is the crème de la crème of golf club transportation, yet, it is lightweight and folds down quickly and easily, once its job is completed.

Thought PowaKaddy only made electric golf trolleys?

Well, you would be wrong. The Twinline 1 golf trolley by PowaKaddy is a push/pull golfing trolley that does not require batteries and is constructed from aluminium, which is lightweight (only 5.6 kg) and highly manoeuvrable. This golf trolley features tee, scorecard and pencil holders and a foot operated braking system for the free-running wheels, making lugging a golf bag a piece of cake.

The Hillbilly Terrain electric golf trolley is crafted from super tough materials to withstand the harshest golfing conditions, from rain, wind, sun and uneven terrain and is backed up with almost 20 years of trolley design experience.

The Masters MT-P700 trombone style pull trolley makes an idea golf trolley for adult or junior golfers because it is lightweight, easy to handle and has a fully adjustable handle and bag support. This model offers compact storage solutions when not in use.

Golf trolleys are the only sensible solution for golfers wishing to transport a full complement of golfing equipment essentials in their golf cart bag, unless they buy a pack pony (and the groundskeeper is sure to object, even with the offer of fresh manure), and are available from Golfbuyitonline.

Golf Stand Bag: How to Personalize Your Golf Stand Bag

As you are looking to display your individualism in the game of golf, there maybe not better way to do just that than to use a stand golf bag. I hear you asking why that might be. The answer is very simple. You can personalize a golf stand bag to match your personality, show your school spirit or promote your company logo.

Using all of today’s technologies, a manufacturer can create basically any color in the rainbow for your stand golf bag. With that being said they can even make your carry bag look like a rainbow if that is your desire.

If they are not one solid color, stand golf bags will use one base color on the bag itself and then use one or two other colors to brighten up the apparel pocket and/or ball pocket of the bag. For example if you are a Notre Dame football fan, the n the base color of the bag would be a navy and the trim or the pockets would be done in gold.

The same thing can be done for your golf stand bag if you want to represent your company or promote their logo while you play golf. The company logo can be placed on the large apparel pocket. In addition, you can have your name embroidered across the ball pocket of the bag.

You can also personalize your stand golf bag in other ways such as how many pockets the bag has. As we are all different, we all want and need different things from our golf bags and the amount of storage that they provide. Some players may need to have a lined valuables pocket as a part of their bag while others will think that a pocket for their water bottle is more important to them.

Since you are looking for a stand golf bag, we are assuming that weight is a concern for you and your new bag as you may be looking to walk some if not all of the rounds of golf that you play. Most manufactures make bags that weigh less than four pounds without any golf equipment in them. Again, this will be different for everybody as the fewer features that you demand the lighter the golf bag can be.

The stand golf bag that you purchase should also include a rain hood. Although we all think that we will not play in the rain, eventually we will get caught on the course in a rain. We may just be trying to get back to the club house or we could be trying to finish a round in a tournament but either way we need protection for our clubs so that they can stay dry.

When you are looking to buy a new stand golf bag, you need to realize that you can personalize it, the bag should be under four pounds and have enough pockets to accommodate all of the extras that you bring during a round of golf.

Golf Accessories that all golfers should have

Golf is a popular sport in the UK, popular enough that there is a large industry based around golf equipment and accessories., Many of these items may be vital such as clubs and golf bags whereas some others may be seen as non-essential. They are likely to be accessories that golfers may not need as a requirement but can help out on the course or even just serve as a bit of fun like novelty golf club covers.

One of the most important golf accessories for many is their golf bag. Many golf bags will come as just a bag that will stand upright, some though have two legs that flick out to allow you to put your bag down and make it stable so it doesn’t get knocked down in a high wind. The next step up from this is a trolley attachment. Some trolleys can seem expensive but many of them are now battery operated. Many older people will find playing golf with a battery operated trolley that little bit less arduous, saving them having to carry a large bag with a full set of golf clubs on board.

As well as golf bags and trolleys many golfers have other accessories such as golf shoe bags, a convenient way to store your golf shoes when you aren’t playing and saves having to look for them when you are due to play. Umbrellas for golf have always been popular, tending to be oversized and perfect for either carrying for protecting yourself as well as your golf bag too thus preventing your clubs from getting wet.

There are smaller accessories too that can help you benefit on the course. Special tees can be bought that minimize the contact with the ball; something golfers want to achieve as the less of the ball touching the tee then the cleaner their tee shot is going to be. In order to help you hit the ball better you can also buy new custom grips for your clubs. Getting customised club grips that are perfect for your swing is something most professionals do and can take some time to get right. Many club pros or golf shops will help you achieve the optimum performance from your clubs and fit your new grips for you.

There are many other golf products that can help you play better and also look after your clubs. If you are struggling to get on to your local course because you don’t have an official handicap then there are plenty of simple to use golf handicap calculator websites available to help you get your handicap recognized. There are many excellent golf courses in the UK to try out such as Blyth Golf Club.

Prevent Golf Grip Slippage In Wet Weather

Spring is on the way to come, but spring day is always full of cold and damp air. Is there anything worse than swinging a golf club and feeling the club slipping in your hands? Because if that happens you’re pretty much guaranteed a terrible golf shot. And unless you’re Tiger Woods it is very hard to stop the swing when you’re in the downswing of a golf swing.

I have no idea how Tiger does that! Anyway, if you’re playing in the rain then naturally the chances of your grip slipping as you make your golf swing go up as well.

But there are simple solutions to this problem which don’t have to cost you anything. And the first solution is a dry towel.

When you play golf, besides carry your golf equipment, you should at least carry 1 extra golf towel. Ideally you should carry two extra golf towels however. And if you’re getting hot and sweaty or it’s raining then before and after every golf shot you should be wiping your golf grips and hands with one of your dry towels. Also, if it’s raining you’ll obviously have your umbrella up so I suggest that you keep your towel under the umbrella to try and keep it dry for as long as you can. Then when your towel is not doing a good enough jobs then simply put it back in your golf bag and get another dry towel out.

Now here’s a neat trick. Every two or three holes simply get some sand from the bunkers (or from the little buckets they give you to put in divots) and rub some of the sand on your hands and on your golf grips. This will help to absorb the sweat and it will help you to keep a firm golf grip as you’re swinging. If you’re a women golfer you may prefer to take some talcum powder with you to the golf course and put this on your hands instead of sand.

So the next time you play a game of golf where it is possibly going to rain and humid…or heaven forbid….both at the same time! Then make sure you take at least two towels and try your best to keep them dry. Then every golf hole or two put some sand on your hands and on your grips. Doing these little things will help you to keep your golf grip secure as you’re swinging the golf club. Because again, there’s nothing worse than going to play a golf shot and having your hands feel as though they are going to slip on the golf grip, is there?
